In the fight against cancer, from: How to use the power of your mind for healing
"I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998, and then found out it had already spread to lymph nodes, my mother died at age forty-six year old breast cancer just eight months after her diagnosis after mastectomies .. bilateral in only twenty-nine, I started up and not chemotherapy. As my first treatment, I started talking to my body I had never done this before .. ... I used many of these wonderful image guided techniques during that year of treatment. It seemed to make things easier, the mental adjustment to surgery to deal with side effects of chemotherapy.
Many times I went to bed my body tells what to do. I would view as chemotherapy and killing cancer cells, I viewed my organs and lymphatic system work perfectly. I viewed old, about eighty years old, my great-grandchildren tucking in to bed. There was a plan to live together and have been actively discussing with my body, my mother had that experience to my own. I did not know why exactly she died and lived, but I know now seven, almost eight years in complete remission and continues to raise my daughter, nine years, I am grateful for my mind to be able to communicate effective with my body. I think that is why I am alive today. ""

When diagnosed with cancer, you can find over-whelmed with emotion at a time when most need to keep your temper. We have to learn to reconnect you with your own inner strengths and resources so you can make the best use of them when most needed.
Cancer is many diseases, and the first thing most people newly diagnosed need to know is that having cancer does not mean you will die from it. More than 50 percent of cancers diagnosed today are cured by conventional medicine alone - that many cancer patients get and succumb to their disease. While you are in life expectancy, and you have options. You will, imagination, and powerful natural healing abilities within you that you can stimulate your mind using.
There are several ways to deal with or fight against cancer. Major tools support image guided attention, your intention, your will, and, most importantly, your imagination. Guided imagery can help you learn ways of thinking that can tip the balance toward health and healing disease.
Cancer Care 101: Treating the Illness, Treating PersonIn cancer care, there are two complementary goals of treatment. One usually medical purpose, is to kill cancer cells and tumors, or reduce their number and their ability to grow, reproduce and spread (metastasize). Other hand, perhaps best called the healing goal, is to support the welfare and strength of the patient. Here I use resistance to stand for all mechanisms, known and unknown, which protects us from the development and dissemination of cancer.
Conventional medical treatment for cancer for several years has focused on destroying tumors without paying much attention to support the patient as a whole person with innate healing capabilities. Until recently, most people were put in the hands of an oncologist (cancer specialist) and did what they said. While almost certainly need an oncologist to prescribe and monitor best medical treatment is often not much more to cancer survivor. A well nourished person with cancer, with tools and support to help them maintain their emotional balance, is likely to have an easier time with cancer and its treatment than someone who is malnourished, poorly supported, locked in terror and emotional.
Support your innate healing abilities will help you make the best use of any treatment you choose, and, alternatively, neglecting them is likely to make it more difficult for any treatment to work.
Supporting your health and eliminate disease are two complementary approaches to healing, which support and strengthen each other. In my experience, neither works, and both together.
Support your health makes it easier to tolerate treatments that can sometimes be difficult, and that in turn increases the likelihood that treatments will work as desired. Methods to support health and strengthen resistance to cancer generally fall into three categories: (1) nutritional support, ranging from diet to improve sophisticated programs individualized nutritional supplements with vitamins, minerals, herbs, essential fatty acids, and natural biological response modifier, (2) mind-body approaches, ranging from support groups to counseling, to meditation, stress reduction, and image guided practice, and body-mind practices such as yoga, Tai Chi Gung, Chi, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and (3) systematic approach to the time honored healing systems such as traditional Chinese medicine or Ayurvedic medicine.
While the methods differ, their goal is the same - to support and stimulate the vitality and function of innate healing systems of the body, mind and spirit. This idea is an old one, but many modern studies show that mind-body approaches, including image-guided, all are effective in reducing anxiety and depression, reducing adverse effects from conventional treatments, and likely to improve treatment outcomes.
Image guided and quickly became widely accepted as a useful adjunct in the treatment of cancer largely due to the ease of use, low cost, fast and psychological benefits. It has been shown to increase both the number and aggressiveness of natural killer cells when practiced over time, has been shown to reduce complications from surgery, relieve pain and reduce the adverse effects of chemotherapy. Imagery is a psychological and medical intervention that could increase your chances of recovery.
